CHARACTER INFO
NAME: David MartinezSERIES: Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
CANON POINT: Post Episode 10!!
AGE: 18
CHARACTER SUMMARY:
David Martinez quite literally lived fast, and died young. The last year of his life spent living for someone else, and disregarding himself. His health, sanity, and body eventually deteriorated until he was nothing but a barely functioning shell of himself. Because it doesn't matter how much you take, David Martinez is always willing to give. He is someone who will throw himself into the fire until he's burnt to a crisp if it means saving someone, or shouldering all responsibility to lessen the load for everyone else. David's rigid sense of loyalty and dedication is in part due to his mother, and his time spent training in Maine's crew. Having grown up relatively sheltered from the cyberpunk life, once he had nothing to lose and was exposed to it, it effectively solidified itself as his only path. The kill or be killed, ride or die, lifestyle is very much engrained in his brain, pulling the trigger as second nature as breathing.
Despite making that transition, David still retains a lot of his traits that made him so soft and endearing to begin with. He is polite when he needs to be, considerate nearly all of the time, and stupidly patient. Very mopey, too, but always willing to accommodate and mold his needs to match somebody else's. After all, David is nothing but a people pleaser, so efficient at what he does he is affectionately known on the streets as the 'Sandevistan from Santo'. But that also means he is still equally dense and stubborn, still being a teen with no purpose in life — with no proper family or support other than the people he pays to work jobs with him. Above all, David is incredibly cocky and self assured. When given the option to sneak in safely and do a job, he chooses the one that presents himself vulnerable front and center. He wants people to know it was him who would kill them, absolutely wants to take the brunt of damage and fights he can to make a job go quicker.
POWERS:
Generally David, at birth, is a full organic human being, but due to Cyberpunk Universe Shenanigans he is at least 90% made of cyberware, comprised of more implants and cybernetic than he is flesh. Most of them are just to help him function on the day to day, while some strictly are for combat and fighting purposes. He has a couple of different implants/tech installed, so here's a comprehensive list of them:
⭐ 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻
David's Sandevistan is one of the higher tech ones on the market, and was obtained illegally when his mother scavenged it off its former owners body. It is physically his new spine, having replaced his normal bone and marrow one, and when activated it creates a temporary status effect that can slow down time to a certain percentage, for a set duration of time. Meaning, if a Sandevistan is activated, the world slows to a physically crawl, but David still functions as he would in real time. When it deactivates, everything David did during that time it's activated will happen in quick succession, him moving like a speedy blur.
The way I'd be nerfing this would be just generally nuking it, save for defense only & doing stupid shit situations. Even then, there'd be a cooldown (he'd be only able to use it two times a most before bleeding out from over exhausting himself).
⭐ 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 & 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀
Cyberaudio is a patch that's installed into the auditory nerves and speech centers of a users brain. David's cyberaudio implant specifically allows him to have enhanced hearing hack into radio scanners, and be able to communicate (or call) people in His Mind(tm). While cyberoptics are replacement for normal eyes! Basically enhanced eyes but with the ability to have a processor and a camera, to see status effects and scan people (think thermograph sensors, infrared, targeting scope, seeing logos, etc).
⭐ 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺
The Projectile Launch System is a piece of cyberware for ones arms -- it is a missile launcher that can be activated at a moments notice by the user that is stores inside the users forearm, ready to be deployed at any moment. I'd be limiting this by taking away his missiles and making him work towards finding weaponry that will work with his cyberware! I.E. he'd have to work towards building and creating his own weaponry that would slot into his cyberware for him to use it.
⭐ 𝗦𝘆𝗻-𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗴𝘀, 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗻𝗸𝗹𝗲𝘀, 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗲𝗴𝘀, 𝗚𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗔𝗿𝗺𝘀, 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘃𝘆 𝗗𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗡𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿
These are all just enhancements to make these specific limbs stronger and more fortified for fights/damage! Nothing super crazy outside of that. I'd be limiting these by actually forcing David to build up his muscle and body naturally, with only slight aid of his implants. Also he'll tire out accordingly! The neural processor is just meant for David to have so he doesn't fry his brain from using all the stuff he has installed into his body.
GAME INFO
ASPECTS:Exalt and Advocate! Exalt because David is the literal embodiment of single minded loyalty and devotion, and can absolutely become blind to what he needs to do to be healthy versus what he wants to do to accomplish his goals. And Advocate because for as much bloodshed as he causes, he is a very soft hearted and gentle boy who really will burn himself to the ground for the sake of someone else if it means praise and upholding himself to his own ridiculous standards.
ANTICIPATED FACTION:
Meridian!! Although to be honest David could really go with either. Notoriously in his canon he has basically lived for other peoples ideals and dreams, taking them on as his own since he had no drive to find something wholly for himself, so depending on who gets to him first I can absolutely see him swinging either way. Or being factionless until he is forced to depend on somebody!
SUITABILITY:
David will be coming in fresh from having died and fulfilled his 'dream' (AKA Lucy's dream), and will be forced to consider to think for himself and what he would want out of life. The way David would interact with the setting in turn would be 1) trying to find or establish a new group of people to call his 'crew', effectively some place for him to either find himself or sink himself into another person's ideals and 2) DO CRIME.. Be a merc for hire again (smuggling drugs, killing people, stealing things, rescuing folks, delivery work!) in the city because it's the only thing he really knows!
